Grow to School

We are delighted to announce that we are working with Grow to School this year to develop a vegetable growing area at the front of school. Over the year, each class will be learning how to grow delicious vegetables and then harvesting them and eating them! We are very excited about this project.

Grow to School 2024-25

It has been another great year of growing at Ashfield Valley! Our Grow to School tutor, Vashti helped us with a bumper harvest of potatoes, beetroot, courgettes, broad beans and peas last summer and in the autumn we planted broad beans and lettuces and garlic, which were harvested in June. The weather was warm and sunny in May so our spring vegetables have got off to a great start, although we had to keep an eye on watering during the dry spell! All the classes enjoy their time outside in the garden and having the opportunity to taste and cook the produce in class.
