Year 4 2022 - 2023
Welcome to Year 4
Class Teacher: Mrs Lenton
Teaching Assistant: Mrs McGrath
We warmly welcome your child to Year 4!
This half term in Year 4, we will be learning lots of interesting things! In English, we will be reading three main texts. These are ‘The Wolves in the Walls’ by Neil Gaimon, ‘The Iron Man’ by Ted Hughes and a poem called ‘Overheard on a Salt Marsh’ by Harold Monro.
We are lucky to have a specialist music teacher joining us every Friday morning to teach the children (and teachers!) to play plastic trombones! We will be inviting parents to a performance at the end of term.
In geography, we will be comparing the continents of North and South America and learning about compass points. In Science we will be finding out how the digestive system works and about how to look after our teeth. See the knowledge organisers for more information.
In RE, children will be finding out why Jesus is inspiring to Christians and in computing, children will be learning to create simple code.
In maths, it is very important that children learn their times tables. This includes practising them at home. By the end of Year 4, all children are required to know all of their times tables up to 12. All children have a log in to TT Rockstars which is a great fun way to practise if you have internet access. We will also be learning Roman Numerals up to 100.
We will be very busy learning and also having lots of fun!
